Freihandnähen

I shouldn´t but I really like it: sewing just like that. But this way I break my needles quite often, I guess because my machine is so bad.. or what?
I had bookpages and red fleece, sewed them together with red yarn. 
Ich darf nicht, ich sollte nicht.. aber es macht wirklich Spass. Fast wie malen. Leider brechen mir dauernd die Nadeln dabei ab, aber ich denke das auch mit meiner Maschine zu tun.
Naja, was sind schon zwei, drei Nadeln für den Spass!
Ich habe Buchseiten und Reste von rotem Fleece mit rotem Faden zusammengenäht.

And I doodled a little bit, I like it!

Und dann habe ich noch ein bischen experimentiert, gefällt mir sehr gut.

Or can you tell me how to sew this without breaking the needle??
Oder habt ihr Tips für mich, wie man sowas ohne kaputte Nadel hinbekommt???

Emergency case - Notfallpäckchen

I saw something like this in a design shop and couldn´t resist. I had to make it of my favourite candy to care some around (I tend to get really grumpy if I´m hungry and don´t get any food). This is so much fun! Best part is to eat first to get your material together ;-)
Ich habe sowas in einem kleinen Design shop gesehen und fand es fantastisch! Muss ich auch machen! Dieses kleine Täschchen ist einfach super um eine Notreserve mit sich rumzutragen (ich werde schnell unausstehlich, wenn ich unterwegs Hunger kriege aber kein Essen). Es hat wirklich Spass gemacht. Der beste Teil war erstmal zu essen um Nähmaterial zu kriegen ;-)

 I made some more. And I think they are great gifts for friends who have been visiting us and have eaten something special here. A nice and useful memory!
Ich habe noch ein paar mehr gemacht. Das ist ein wirklich schönes Geschenk für unseren Besuch, falls jemand etwas besonders gerne gegessen hat. Eine schöne und nütliche Erinnerung!

I used this tutorial from n´stitches designs and it was really easy. 
You can not tell from the pictures but I used clear tablecloth to protect the thin wrapping paper from the candy.
You can use any kind of paper, now make your own favourite treat bag!
Ich habe mich an diese Anleitung von stitches designs gehalten und es war wirklich einfach.
Auf den Fotos sieht man es nicht, aber ich habe durchsitige Tischdecke benutzt um das Papier ein bischen zu schützen.
Man kann alle möglichen Papiere benutzen, jetzt los, macht euch eine geliebte Tasche!

tablerunner and weights - Tischdecke und Beschwerer

A couple of weeks ago I made a tablerunner and weights out of the same fabric. With autum being here and wind blowing the weights will still hold the tablerunner on the last few ocasion outside nicely on the table. Maybe you need one? Here is my first tutorial!!

Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich eine Tischdecke und Gewichte dazu gemacht. Jetzt im Herbst liegt die Decke durch die Gewichte schön auf dem Tisch wenn wir draussen sind und der Wind weht.
Zum nachmachen: meine erste Anleitung!!

fabric scraps
plastic (wrapping)
sand
curtain clips 

Stoffreste
Plastikfalie (Verpackung)
Sand
Gardinenclips o.ä.
 

I cut fabric scraps in shape and some thicker plastic too. You can choose like any shape thats matching the tablerunner (keep it easy to sew). In addition you need sand, I took it from our sandbox. Just make sure its clean, you don´t want something growing inside...
Make some straps too, or take ribbon you have at hand.
Ich habe die Stoffreste und Plastik zugeschnitten. Man kann die Form ganz nach belieben wählen (wenn ihr es einfach haltet ist es einfacher zum nähen). Dann braucht man noch Sand, aus dem Sandkasten, aber der sollte sauber sein.
Macht noch ein paar Bändel oder ihr nehmt fertiges Band.

 First I laid the fabric on the plastic and then folded it in half with the fabric inside (right sides facing). Sew your shape and leave it open at the top. It´s approximatly the size of my hand if you wonder. Turn it and you have a small bag.
Zuerst den Stoff auf die Folie legen und dann falten, so dass der Stoff innen liegt (rechts auf rechts). Die gewählte Form nähen, aber oben offen lassen. Hier habe ich einen Beutel ungefähr in der Grösse meines Handtellers genäht. Auf rechts drehen und ihr habt einen kleinen Beutel.

I filled the small bags with sand (sorry, no photo) and tucked the upper fabric (where the opening is) inside and sewed it close. Don´t use too much sand, it will come out at your sewing machine or you can sew it closed by hand. Don´t forget to inser a strap when sewing here.
Die kleinen Beutel dann noch mit Sand füllen (sorry, keine Foto leider) und oben den Stoff nach innen umschlagen und zunähen. Nicht zu viel Sand nehmen, sonst kommt der beim nähen nur wieder raus. Ihr könnt das mit der Maschine zunähen oder auch mit Hand. Geht beides gut. Nicht vergessen ein Bändel mit einzunähen.

 I made straps from the fabric and put one of the clips for curtains over it. Beware if you are using oilcloth as a tablerunner the might not hold to good or the teeth can damage the fabric.
Ich habe Bänder aus den Stoffresten gemacht und dann die Gardinenclips aufgefädelt. Passt aber auf bei Wachstuchdecken. Die Gardinenclips halten da nicht so gut und die Zähnchen hinterlassen ihre Spuren.

As these are normally just hanging at the table I´m sure sand won´t come out. I store them in a small basket, just in case. I didn´t have sand coming out anyway even when my kids shaked them.Falls ihr euch fragt, da sie eigentlich nur hängen kommt kein Sand raus. Ich hebe sie in einem kleinen Körbchen auf, nur für den Fall. Bei uns ist noch kein Sand rausgekommen, auch nicht, als meine Kinder sie geschüttelt haben.

Princess blanket - Prinzessinendecke

What to give as present for a 4year old you barely know? She likes to play home...
So I decided to make some doll stuff, but as I didn´t know what kind of dolls she has: a blanket!
Was schenken, wenn man die 4jährige kaum kennt? Sie spielt gerne mit Puppen... mh. Also etwas für die Puppe, da ich aber nicht wusste in welcher grösser: eine Dekce!

Shiny and a little comfy, I picked some fleece and the violett shiny fabric. Actually you can take whatever you have left over! My pieces for the blanket were about 30cm x 40cm and the pillow 30cm x 15cm.
First I drawed the princess-crown from one of our books.. and cut it in big and small from the fleece.
Glänzend und gemütlich, Fleece und lila Stoff. Eigentlich kann man hierfür auch gut Reste benutzen. Meine Decke ist ca. 30cm x 40 cm und das Kissen 30cm x 15cm. Zuerst habe ich die Krone aus einem Buch abgemalt und dann in gross und klein aus Fleece ausgeschnitten.

 Cut your pieces and first add the decoration to the upper side of the blanket and pillow.
Teile ausschneiden und Dekoration auf die Vorderseite von Decke und Kissen aufnähen.

Then I first sewed this pieces to the violett fabric (and added a ribbon just sewed it down) before stitching everything together, right sides together and leave and opening to turn it inside out.
Zuerst die Kronen auf die lila Stoffteile aufnähen (und ich habe noch ein Band aufgenäht)  und dann alles zunähen, rechts auf rechts mit Wendeöffnung.

 To pep it up a little, I stuffed the pillow a little bit.
Damits besser aussieht habe ich das Kissen noch ein bischen mit Watte gefüllt.

Close the opening with slipstitches and you are done!
Dann noch die Öffnung mit Matratzenstich zunähen und fertig!

 Now get your doll to rest and beware of caretakers :-)
Jetzt nur noch die Puppe schlafen legen und aufpassen das sie niemand aufweckt :-)

Glascover - Glassbezug

I don´t know really how to call these:
Ich weiss nicht wirklich, wie ich diese nennen soll:
 

I made them, that we can tell wich glas belongs to whom.
Ich habe sie gemacht, damit wir unterscheiden können wem welches Glas gehört.

I traced the size of the glas to paper and fitted it to the glas, as the glas is not round it was kind of tricky to roll it over the paper as suggested in this nice post.
Ich habe die Größe des Glases aufs Papier übertragen und dann am Glas nochmal angepasst. Da das Glas nicht rund ist war es gar nicht so einfach das übers Papier zu rollen wie hier vorgeschlagen wird.

I tried to use ... that the fit and it holds quite good. Some people here in the house don´t like it so much...
I think they add a summery cottage feeling to the table. I have to come up with other designs I guess.
Ich habe das mal mit Gummiband ausprobiert, es hält ganz gut. Gefällt aber nicht allen hier. I finde die haben ein bischen Sommerhaus Flair. Mal sehen welche andere Designs mir einfallen.

von ikatbag habe ich diese Tasche versucht.

It´s really easy and nice. Later I attached a fabric flower, but now its already in good hands somewhere else.
Wirklich einfach und gut.
Nachher habe ich noch eine Stoffblumenbrosche drangemacht, leider kein Foto, da schon verschenkt.
